Case Study: GFT Employee Welcome Packs

Eco-friendly branded merchandise for a positive brand impact

A beautiful and high-impact selection of gifts delivered to individual employee addresses, with the excess stored to call-off as required to give new starters a welcome to remember.

After working with the company on a range of promo merch briefs, Project Merchandise was introduced to a new stakeholder building gift packs for new starters. These were intended for all current employees, ahead of a rollout to new starters.


Promotional Gifting Made Sustainable

At business level, GFT had expressed a desire to be more sustainable, so this pack offered a good opportunity to demonstrate that commitment. Having explored possibilities in the past, however, the samples they had received had not been up to expectation.

Tasked with taking this brief to the next level while keeping this new direction in mind, Project Merchandise was a perfect fit for the task.

Certain items, including a laptop case and notebooks, were a must, however there was also scope for new ideas, which gave us the opportunity to suggest some exciting products like wellness sets and socks.

What’s Inside the Welcome Pack?

With the world of promotional merchandise always moving forward, we wanted to set GFT apart with some stand-out items to elevate their brand.

One of the highlights of the final pack was a premium-styled canvas laptop bag, featuring imitation leather details and a contrast lining for a sleek, executive look. We branded the bag with a matching leather-look patch, understated and a perfect fit for GFT.

Delivering on the notebook requirement was our Como A5, a leather-effect notebook with a cover made from 80% recycled PET plastic. Soft touch and with a subtle grained finish, we source these vegan-friendly notebooks from a UK manufacturer. Complementing the notebook, we added a recycled Prodir DS8 pen with the GFT logo printed to the clip.

Also recycled was the umbrella, a FARE AOC mini, with some subtle yet premium details making it ideal for GFT. With its colour contrast fibreglass ribs, edge stitching, and handles, we were able to closely match the umbrella to the GFT brand for a bespoke appearance.

Gorgeous, reusable, and designed to last for years, the famous KeepCup was the first of our drinkware choices. In line with our values, we provided the option with a cork band, engraved with the GFT logo. We paired this with an insulated water bottle coated with an anti-bacterial finish to keep germs at bay.

Adding some statement pieces to complete the welcome pack, we suggested two ideas that made the final cut. Firstly, a pair of bespoke woven organic cotton socks, featuring an all over logo print. And the last item, a UK made wellness tin of feel-good personal care items to help employees unwind.


Exceeding Expectations

When we first came into contact with GFT, they made it clear that they had been left underwhelmed by items they had received in the past, so to make sure the team were happy with the items, we made a point of sampling each and every product before proceeding to brand the bulk.

As this was during the work from home directive earlier this year, this meant delivery to home addresses. We carefully picked and packed all 400 packages, ready to ship to individual UK addresses, with info processed in line with GDPR.


Once all current employees had received their packs, we stored the remainder, working with GFT HR on an ongoing basis. This allows us to ship packs weekly to delight new employees ahead of their start dates.

In addition, we work alongside GFT to forecast on a three-month basis, ensuring the stock’s there when needed. By managing stock in this way, we’re able to keep storage costs low.
