About the Project

Earlier this year Linnworks, specialists in connecting, managing and automating commerce operations, approached Project Merchandise to assist in the internal launch of their refreshed branding. The company was looking for a considered collection of eco-conscious items to create excitement around the refresh. It was important that items had the potential to become everyday staples for the staff receiving them. Budget was a consideration, so we set out to select a range of items that delivered a premium look and feel without breaking the bank.

The first item, a UK-made notebook, combined recycled paper pages with a soft touch vegan leather cover that allowed for full-bleed colour printing. This enabled us to match the notebook and brand book.

A branded stainless steel bottle was next on the list, with this sleek and lightweight option selected for its reusability and print area. The bottle was printed with a large logo in full colour with an impressively bold resulting appearance.

Two items of clothing, a 100% organic cotton sweater and a 100% cotton tee, were printed using water-based inks. These were selected to provide a soft hand feel while using vastly reduced quantities of water than traditional plastisol inks. The garments were then packaged in sugar cane bags to provide protection and further reduce environmental impact vs plastic bags.

A brand book was originally to be sourced elsewhere, but by working with PM on the complete pack, Linnworks were able to maximise its impact, while simplifying the overall procurement process.

After inspecting material options, Linnworks selected a 350gsm cover, to which we added spot vinyl detailing for a premium finish.

Moving onto fulfilment, items were wrapped together in tissue paper, sealed with a branded sticker, and packaged in natural kraft gift boxes, ready for the end recipient.

Along with a requirement for individual shipments to a range of UK and international addresses to surprise and delight staff at home, it was also necessary to bulk-pack portions of the order, which were then shipped to office addresses.

“The Project Merchandise team was instrumental in helping us showcase our refreshed branding to our 200+ community of employees. Having switched to remote work as a result of COVID-19 it was important to bring back a sense of connection between our employees and the Linnworks brand. Chris was great at suggesting what would work best against our brief as well as going above and beyond to also tie in our brand book as well as shipping & fulfilment to make the entire process as seamless and effortless as possible.
