Job Overview:

The Business Development Manager will be tasked with driving revenue growth through the identification, planning, and implementation of new business initiatives. This is a great opportunity to become a critical member of a rapidly growing business in a competitive market, and will give you the opportunity get creative, improving our proposition for new audiences, and continue our growth. You’ll be responsible for cultivating relationships with new customers and markets, promoting Project Merchandise’s capabilities and commitment to sustainable & eco-friendly branded merchandise along the way.

This position reports into the Sales Director, with main responsibilities to include: seeking and securing new business, growing the accounts within your remit, and alongside your daily tasks you will be expected to lead by example and help develop junior members of the team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Plan and execute sales strategy, prospect potential clients and provide consistent and accurate forward-looking analysis
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities through research, networking, calling & direct marketing campaigns
  • Represent Project Merchandise in meetings with senior representatives of new and existing accounts
  • Maintain customer relationships and grow accounts by nurturing relationships at multiple levels
  • Construct, forecast, and manage your sales pipeline via Hubspot CRM
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently via phone, email and in-person meetings
  • Identify prospect needs, understand business drivers behind requests, and explain the Project Merchandise value proposition
  • Consistently achieve monthly and annual targets
  • Prepare presentations & pricing, including monitoring margins and currency conversions
  • Stay up to date with the latest sustainable products in the industry
  • Complete BPMA Level 1 and 2 training

What You’ll Need:

  • We don’t need you to be an expert in sustainability or merchandise, but you’ll need at least three’s year experience in a new business development role & the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and target-based environment
  • Alternatively at least two years experience in branded merchandise within a new business role
  • Self-motivation, resilience, passion and focus
  • The drive and ability to perform under tight deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills
  • An interest in or working knowledge of sustainability issues
  • Willingness to continuously learn and become an industry expert and support junior members of the team
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
