Project Merchandise x 4ocean: Making Waves with our Climate Pledge

Eco-friendly branded merchandise for a positive brand impact

At Project Merchandise, our mission has always been simple: to make merchandise more sustainable. This year, we’re taking that promise further with our new Climate Pledge: for every £1,000 spent in a single order, not only will we continue to offset 0.5 tonnes of CO2, we’ll now also fund the removal of 4.5kg of waste from our oceans – that’s the equivalent of around 470 plastic bottles.

Supporting the Lampon Beach Cleanup

We’re proud to announce that this pledge has already been put into action through our new partnership with 4ocean PBC, a purpose-driven B Corp on a mission to end the ocean rubbish crisis. Since their inception, 4ocean has removed tens of millions of pounds of rubbish from the ocean, rivers, and coastlines. Their dedicated crews work full time around the world, proving that consistent action makes a real difference.

Most recently, our support helped 4ocean’s team complete a major cleanup on Lampon Beach in Banyuwangi, Indonesia. This coastline, just 44km from their base, faces an increasing threat from waste pollution, washed ashore by beachgoers and carried in from a nearby river mouth.

Armed with sacks, ropes, and protective gear, the crew set out to restore the shoreline and protect local marine life. This wasn’t easy work: strong winds, heavy debris, and long treks to weighing zones tested the team’s endurance. But determination and teamwork carried them through, and by day’s end, 95 bags of waste were filled, removing 2,576.1 pounds of rubbish – that’s a whopping 123,408 plastic bottles’ worth of pollution… gone. From flip-flops to food wrappers, bottles to bags, every piece removed has helped to make Lampon Beach safer for wildlife and restore its natural beauty for the community.

Why is This Important?

Waste pollution is one of the most urgent environmental crises of our time; every year, an estimated 33 billion pounds of plastic and rubbish enters the ocean – that’s like dumping a rubbish truck of plastic into the sea every minute. Left unchecked, this waste breaks down into harmful microplastics which threaten marine life, ecosystems, and even human health.

At Project Merchandise, we believe sustainability must be more than words. By linking your merchandise spend to direct ocean impact, we’re showing that small, consistent actions add up.

Cleaning up a shoreline isn’t just about picking up plastic. It’s about caring for our planet and taking responsibility for the future we want to build. Our partnership with 4ocean allows us to turn our Climate Pledge into real-world action, and we’re only just getting started.

What This Means for You

Every choice you make, including where you source your merchandise, has an impact. When you choose Project Merchandise, you’re not just getting high-quality branded products; you’re also playing a direct part in a larger mission.

When you place an order of £1,000 or more, we’ll fund the removal of 4.5kg of ocean waste and offset 0.5 tonnes of CO₂e. Better yet, the bigger your order, the bigger your impact — every additional £1,000 stacks.

For example, spend £2,000 in a single order and we’ll remove 9kg of ocean waste and offset 1 tonne of CO₂e. Spend £10,000 and it’s 45kg and 5 tonnes.

Together, that means your order doesn’t just deliver great products — it helps clean our oceans and cut carbon in a truly measurable way. Your merchandise orders become a part of your company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. We keep a running total of the impact you’ve made across all your orders, and we’re happy to share this information with you on request.

The products you order become a powerful story to share with employees and customers. You can proudly tell them that their branded merchandise isn’t just good-looking, it’s also helping to clean up our planet.

Let’s make change happen together.
