It’s time we put the planet first. While we’re not usually for celebrating lesser-known holidays, Global Recycling Day is an important date in the Project Merchandise calendar. This year, we’re marking the occasion by celebrating some of our favourite merch that re-purposes materials in unexpected ways.
With resource consumption outstripping Earth’s ability to regenerate, recycling is an increasingly crucial way for us to extend the life of the materials already in circulation. As one of our nine Product Values, you’ll find over 300 products in our range that contain a minimum of 50% recycled materials. To celebrate GRD2022, we’re highlighting out a few special merchandise products that prove almost anything can be recycled. So, without any further ado, here are our 5 recycling heroes.
A Notebook made from Recycled Windshields
Yes, you read right, the cover of the Lamberhurst A5 notebook is made from recycled polyvinyl butyral (PVB), a resin commonly found in safety glass in car windscreens. Perfectly recyclable, it can be ground down at end of life. Once separated and refined, it’s turned into PU sheets, which make for one waste-busting notebook!
A Coaster made from Car Tyres
You’re probably familiar with the phrase ‘burning rubber’ (not very eco-conscious, we don’t recommend this,) but these days car tyres contain just 20% natural rubber, with the bulk coming from plastic based synthetics.
The good news is that they’re still recyclable at the end of their life, and these Brite-Mat coasters make full use of this fact, using recycled tyre material in their construction.

A T-Shirt made from Factory Offcuts
Combining 50% undyed organic cotton with 50% in-house cutting waste, the Re-Creator & Re-Blaster from Stanley/Stella are some of our most eco-friendly clothing styles to date.
In giving those waste cuts a second chance at life, these tees reduce water, chemical, and energy requirements, while also cutting emissions.

A Tote made from T-Shirts
Partly made from recycled cotton t-shirts, the Seabrook tote proves that they don’t need to be fashionable to be functional. This 5oz tote is competitively priced, making it a perfect giveaway for events, shows, or conferences. Also available in a drawstring.
A Coffee Cup made from… Coffee Cups
As a nation we get through a staggering 7m single-use coffee cups in a day. So how do we reduce our dependency on single-use as well as all this waste? Enter the Circular Cup – a reusable coffee cup made of…waste coffee cups.
Designed (and named) for circularity, this innovative product is built to last 10 years. And once 10 years pass, it’s fully recyclable itself. Plus, its simple push lid allows for easy 360-degree drinking.
Each year recycling saves over 700 million tonnes in CO2 emissions. This is projected to increase to 1 billion tonnes by 2030. Could your brand help us get there faster?
